I thought this might be of interest to anyone who finds their T to be lacking in treble. There is a capacitor across the output, presumably to tame the high frequencies. I was always cranking up the treble on my amp (a fender champ 25se) to get the sound I wanted, so I tried removing the capacitor, and was pleased at the results. It now has much more bite, and pleasant, open sounding high end. This can still be reined back with eq if needed. With the right amp settings, it edges a touch closer to the pianet N sound (to my ears), and handles mild overdrive better, without getting mushy sounding.
Does anyone know what the purpose of the cap was in the first place? My T has the new sticky pads, and I wonder if the cap was used to tame the damper 'plink' from the old hard rubber pads? Anyway, removing the cap is probably worth a try for a brighter sound, as it should be easily reversible if removed neatly. Has anyone else tried this?
