Hi all, I've recently picked up a pianet N, fitted with new pads by the previous owner and I've replaced the caps/high value resistors and given it a
good clean internally. Everything works, but I think I can hear a little distortion in the midrange notes when playing loudly, and I need to work on the
balance across the range too.
The pickup elements seemed very close to the reeds (I can only just get a sheet of ordinary printer paper in the gap), so I'm wondering what would be the usual reed-pickup clearance? Just so I can use that as a starting point before I start tweaking individual notes. Are they usually this close, or has somebody adjusted them for more output to compensate for the deteriorating old pads?
